How To Choose The Right Bedroom Colors

Choosing the right bedroom colors should be as pleasurable as moving into a new house. When choosing a color it is best to pick a color that you love, because it is going to be the last color you look at before you fall asleep and the first color you see when wake up in the morning.

Consider the color of the wood in floors or the bedroom set. If your bedroom is light you can create quite an effect by coloring the walls in a contrasting color. On the flip side, if your bedroom furniture is dark wood, try painting your walls a lighter or brighter color to feature and highlight the wood.

If, on the other hand, you do not like the finish on the wood, there are steps you can take to increase the appeal of the overall decor. You can blend a smoky wood color with an ample, darker color on the walls that mixes in with the furniture or trim to create a rich, dark look. There is a multitude of bold combinations that bring out the beauty in color. For example, dark wood with red undertones would look fantastic with dark purple or red walls. By coloring your design in dark colors you provide yourself with the perfect opportunity to create light accents. A soothing lamp, comforter, and pillows are just some of the things you can use to take the focus off the undesirable finish. When choosing a color to paint the walls, be careful not to overdo it, you don’t want your light wood accessories to look cartoonish against the midnight walls.

It might look even better if you paint the ceiling in the same color as the walls. If not, don’t leave it white! It will look like a brown suit with a white hat. Paint the ceiling with an agreeable color in the same shade. Colors on the darker, richer side of the spectrum are best mixed with neutralizing hues. With lighter woods, be very careful you don’t end up with a void of nothingness when choosing a color for your bedroom. Do not leave the walls looking too washed. Create harmony, not monotony, with similar shades on either the lighter or darker side of the scale.

Paint brightness on walls make a huge difference in the atmosphere of the room. Think of walls being the most outstanding and striking part of your décor because they have the largest surface area. That is why picking the right colored bed is very important. Remember to always make sure the colors mix well together and help create a mood that you want to create for your bedroom.

Here is a quick guide to some common colors and what they mean:

Black represents elegance, mystery and power. Those who like black are ambitious and sophisticated. Remember though, too much can be depressing.
Tip: Consider using black as an accent color to add drama to your room.

Tip: Try painting walls a calming shade of lilac for a sense of relaxation and serenity.

White represents cleanliness and youth. It creates a cool and refreshing feeling. A warmer shade of white can help make a room feel cozier, while cooler whites tend to achieve a more formal feeling.

Neutrals

How do you feel about neutral colors? Beige, browns, vanilla, cream….Is that boring? We at Bedroom Furniture love neutral colors, because when it’s not about colors, there’s plenty of room to play around with textures, which can add plenty of excitement to a room. This week, we were taking a look at one of our favorite blogs, Home Decorating, and felt challenged by the piece they did on neutral colors, so we decided to lay out some of our furniture sporting neutrals while looking fantastic.

Shabby Chic

face it. While everyone loves a nice vintagy, cottagy, countryish looking home, no one really wants the old and used furniture especially with this crazy bed bug epidemic we are dealing with. So, what do we do? Well from what I understand, as long as the home looks shabby and chic, we don’t have to have the actual shabby, because that’s not really chic. We drew in some inspiration from sites such as Decorology and Rachel Ashwell's Shabbychic.com, and showed you some pieces from BFD that exude shabby chic while being totally new and yours only.

You want a new girlfriend and this bed just won’t do anymore, no matter how cool you think it is.

You found your cleaning lady “dancing” around the pole of your poster bed with the gardener and pole dancing is now an understatement to you.

We’re all for recycling and supporting a green environment, but sleeping on a bed from the dumps just isn’t healthy.

Upholstered Headboards - Benefits and Drawbacks

Upholstered headboard beds are in style now. Two examples are the Park Avenue by Unlimited Furniture http://www.bedroomfurniturediscounts.com/sale/park-avenue-4-piece-platform-bedroom-set-in-expresso.html and the Ludlow by Modloft Bed in White Leather http://www.bedroomfurniturediscounts.com/sale/modloft-ludlow-bed-leather-platform-white.html or the Modloft Ludlow Bed in Black Leather http://www.bedroomfurniturediscounts.com/modloft-ludlow-bed-leather-platform-black.html

The beauty of these beds is the softness and style of the opulent headboards. They work well in any modern or contemporary decor and are relatively easy to clean. I say relatively because if you spill a glass of red wine on a white leather headboard, it won't be easy to clean up. This is why the Black is always the safer option. Never use harsh or abrasive brushes or cleaners on fabric or leather. You may get the wine out but the leather or fabric won't be the same after that. Soap and water and a damp sponge or rag usually work best.

One of my friends has had the Park Avenue Bedroom Set in his Manhattan apartment for 5 years and the headboard still looks new. It is made to last a long time and to look great for years to come. He vacuums it once in a while but other than that, its been maintenance free.

What style of bedroom furniture should I choose?

A beautiful bedroom is a place in your home that is both welcoming and relaxing. Your bedroom is your own private oasis. It is the perfect space to rest your weary head after a long and stressful day. But how do you transform a lackluster bedroom into a stylish and restful retreat? With so many styles, colors, and furniture options, trying to get that perfect look can be quite overwhelming! In this guide, we'll answer a few basic questions and help you create the master, guest or kids' bedroom of your dreams.

What style of bedroom furniture should I choose?

Take a look at the other rooms in your home. You can choose to make the decor in your bedroom similar in style in order to create a cohesive and unified look throughout your house. Or you can have different styles in different rooms, or even mix pieces of different styles in the bedroom. Is your other furniture traditional, modern, contemporary, eclectic, country, or casual? If you are still not sure, look at some of your favorite things - a painting, a vase, or even a favorite piece of clothing. These will give you hints as to what your decorating style is.

For bedroom furniture, you'll want to incorporate your design with some calming elements that may include color, patterns, or lighting to help create a restful and serene atmosphere. Some people prefer contemporary furniture in their living room and dining room while having something more traditional in the bedroom. Others prefer the opposite. There's no wrong answer here, it depends on your personal preferences.
